The mission of LIFT (Literacy Is for Today and Tomorrow, Inc.) is to improve the overall literacy rate throughout Carroll County, Georgia with an emphasis on adult education and to provide financial assistance to those striving to obtain their GED.
We are a unique educational program in partnership with our community that is dedicated to promoting and supporting literacy training. Our program addresses the problem of scarce adult literacy funding and the need to recruit adult students in greater numbers.
In the United States, 14% of adults over the age of 16 read at or below a fifth grade level. 29% only read at the eighth grade level.
The effects of low literacy cost the U.S. more than $225 billion each year in non productivity!
